A storm suddenly came upon the disciples’ boat and they found themselves very quickly afraid and alone. They reacted a lot like many of us do when the storms of life hit. We turn to fear. We doubt that God truly loves us. But Jesus, as He so often does, showed the disciples (and us) who is really in control when fear hits.
"Anxious for nothing.” It’s a phrase many of us have heard, seen on coffee mugs or t-shirts, but many of us don’t really understand what it means, or even more importantly how to live it out. In a day and age that is largely defined in therapeutic terms, and mental health issues like anxiety and depression are so prevalent, how do we actually become non-anxious? How do we rejoice and hold on to joy in the midst of so much chaos in our world and lives? Today we look at how Paul, a man who was all too familiar with hardship, tells us we too can become non-anxious people in a world of anxiety."
This Mother's Day we’re going to do something different than most churches - we’re going to hear from a panel of women. These women are going to share their stories, life experiences, and God’s truth as it relates to motherhood. As we all know, there is nothing easy about being a mom, so we’re excited to learn from some of our experienced moms. Listen in as we hear from three Coastline moms about life, faith, and motherhood.
Today we’re continuing Real Talk, a sermon series about fear, worry, and anxiety. Last week we looked at the words of Jesus from the Sermon on the Mount. Today we’re going to look at Peter’s words to the early church. The early church struggled with anxiety and worry. They were persecuted for their faith and needed to be encouraged by God's truth about their circumstances. But, they also needed to know who they were up against. In our passage today, the Bible teaches us that the devil is like a roaring lion. Some might imagine the devil as a puny, weak, and defeated being. But that is not how the New Testament describes him. Thankfully, Peter is going to teach us what to do if we encounter the enemy lion. Listen in as Pastor Neal Benson teaches on 1 Peter 5:5-11 and that when a lion is on the prowl the church needs to stay alert.
According to recent data, about 19% of adults were diagnosed with an anxiety disorder in 2023. In fact, 31% of adults will deal with anxiety at some point in their lifetime. The Bible offers us solutions to deal with our fear, worry, and anxiety. Today we’re starting a brand new sermon series called: Real Talk. In this new series we’re going to look at what Scripture teaches about anxiety, fear, and worry. I’m praying for God to show up in a powerful way during this series. Today we’re going to look up to the birds, look down to the flowers, and then look to God. Listen in as Pastor Neal Benson teaches on Matthew 6:25-34.
Today we’re finishing up our year-long study of the Gospel of John. In our study, we’ve learned about the miracles and teaching of Jesus and what it means to follow Him. We’ve walked through some tough passages that have shaped our faith in new ways and allowed us to encounter the power of Jesus Christ. In John 20:30-31, John reveals that the purpose of his Gospel is so that we may believe in Jesus and have eternal life in Him. Listen in as Pastor Neal teaches on this final passage and helps us apply it to our lives.
All of us have failed at some point in our life. Peter perhaps had no greater failure than denying Jesus three times. The culmination of his denial was a rooster crowing three times. Every morning after his denial that rooster crow would have been a reminder to Peter of his failure. But, in John 21:15-25 Jesus restores Peter back to his role as a disciple. Like Peter, it’s through the great love of Jesus that our lives are restored. Listen in as Pastor Neal Benson gives us a fresh and different take on the restoration of Peter from the viewpoint of the Apostle John.
