Join us as Mike Encoe shares with us out of 1 Kings 21.
We all have someone who has made a significant impact on our lives. This might be a sports coach, a previous employer, or someone who invested in us for the Kingdom of God. Elijah was a prophet in Israel during the terrifying reign of Ahab and Jezebel. He stood up for God when many others were bowing to the idols of the day. God gave Elijah clear instructions regarding his successor, and Elijah immediately went to invite Elisha into ministry. Elisha was literally willing to burn all his bridges to follow Elijah and answer God's call on his life. Listen in as Pastor Neal Benson teaches on 1 Kings 19:15-21 and explains how we can confidently leave everything to follow God.
The Bible teaches that Elijah is a man like us, and in 1 Kings 19, we see that truth come to light. In this chapter, we read that Elijah is exhausted, alone, and ready to quit ministry. His life is threatened by the evil ruler Jezebel, and he is prepared to leave. In his darkest moment, we witness God comforting and restoring Elijah. He flees Israel and ends up in a cave, where he has a conversation with God. What seems like the lowest point of Elijah's life becomes a moment of finding clarity in God's will. In the stillness, God speaks life into the weary prophet. If you've ever felt exhausted or deflated, let this passage of Scripture encourage you. Listen in as Pastor Neal Benson teaches how God restores us in our exhaustion and invites us to a new mission.
We've all been in desperate places. Sometimes, we find ourselves questioning life, feeling depressed, or wondering how things went wrong. The question becomes: Who do we turn to in those desperate times? For the past few weeks, we've been studying the life of Elijah. In James 5, we read that Elijah was human like us—he prayed, and God answered. Elijah had an earnest prayer life, maintaining an ongoing conversation with God and being closely aligned with Him. Listen in as Pastor Neal Benson teaches how prayer opens the potential for an extraordinary work of God in our lives.
The prophet Elijah may be best known for his showdown with the Prophets of Baal, or his incredible mountain top encounter with the Lord, and yet in between these two gigantic events we get a glimpse into who Elijah is. We see the character of Elijah. And what we learn is that Elijah was a man devoted to prayer. This week Joey Ross walks us through what it means to live a life in a posture prayer, and the powerful life changing power that comes with living a prayerful life.
Elijah's life of faith and discipline paved the way for his bold stand against the prophets of Baal. Join us as Doug Meye uncovers key insights about the connection between private devotion and public power, and how this truth can impact our own spiritual journey today.
